TV ratings: 'Person of Interest' ties 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Big Bang Theory' wins

After several seasons of consistency on Thursday night, it looks like we are in for a major changing of the guard -- and it includes "American Idol" barely being ahead of "The X Factor" and "Grey's Anatomy" finally getting toppled at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.

  • First things first, "Idol" continued to plummet this week as its 4.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic is something that Nigel Lythgoe can only shake his head at. This marks a drop of 39% from last year at this time, and it does pose the question as to how many changes we may end up seeing over the summer.
  • While "The Big Bang Theory" easily won the night with a 5.2 rating (as well as beating "Idol" in viewers overall), "Person of Interest" tied "Grey's Anatomy" for the first time all season with a 3.1 rating.
  • After some bad weeks, "The Office" bounced back Thursday to a 2.6 rating -- which also seemed to help "Up All Night."
  • Meanwhile, "Rob" dropping to a 3.0 pretty much guarantees that it will be gone by the fall -- it would be great for other networks, but not for CBS.
