For the first time in almost two months, we had "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Vampire Diaries" air some new episodes Thursday night -- and luckily, the hiatus did not lead to any sort of decline in viewers.
- Over on ABC, "Grey's" drew a 4.5 rating for its hour-long return -- the best number we have seen from any scripted drama so far in 2012. This is also up an impressive four-tenths from its last new episode in November.
- The presence of "Grey's" also seemed to help both "Wipeout" and "Private Practice," which each improved by jumping up respective 2.8 ratings. (In the case of the former, this marks an increase on almost 50% from the last new installment.)
- As for "The Vampire Diaries," its return brought in a 1.4 rating -- which ties it with its last new episode. This is of course easily the best number The CW draws with its schedule, and "The Secret Circle" lost nearly half of its lead-in on the way to a 0.8 rating.
