Rosie O'Donnell is headed back to daytime TV. Oh, man, aren't you excited?
Rosie O'Donnell is a bit of a divisive figure: either you love her particular brand of comedy and attitude, or you're on Donald Trump's "Eff Rosie O'Donnell" bandwagon. The comedienne used to have a very popular talk show back in the day, and now-- for better or for worse-- it sounds like she's making a move to take back some of the attention of daytime TV watchers from Ellen Degeneres, who's currently hosting her own successful talk show. Want to know more? Details are below, my gentle Examiner readers...
In the land of daytime talk shows, Oprah is Queen, but Rosie's looking to take over when she leaves next year. After years of living a relatively secluded life down in Florida, the comedienne and former talk show host is looking to get back into the TV game. On a scale of one to ten, how excited does this make you?
O'Donnell, who hosted the syndicated "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" and did a stint on ABC's "The View," has teamed with syndication veterans Dick Robertson and Scott Carlin for another syndicated talk show. The show, hosted by O'Donnell, is eyed for fall 2011 launch, which would coincide with the exit of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."
Ah, so Rosie's looking to take some of Oprah's audience, huh? Well, there's certainly going to be a gaping hole left in the daytime talk show continuum when Oprah leaves in 2011 (that's if she actually goes through with her retirement, which some industry-types aren't exactly convinced of just yet). "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" was popular back in the day, but a lot has happened since Rosie was popular, like her very public spat with Donald Trump and some not-so-nice rumors about the way she treated her staff while hosting her talk show. Are there really people out there clamoring for a Rosie comeback?

The Hollywood Reporter goes on to say:
Given the caliber of auspices involved and O'Donnell's solid track record in daytime with her own show and her ratings-fueling one-year stint on "The View," which she departed in 2007 in a contract dispute, the O'Donnell-hosted project has immediately emerged as a top candidate to succeed "Oprah" on the ABC stations.
Ellen might wanna step up her game in the months ahead if she wants to avoid losing any viewers to O'Donnell when she returns to the airwaves in 2011. What do you think, folks? Are you ready for Rosie to return to TV? Would you rather she just stayed in relative obscurity? Sound off in the comments section below, people: we wanna know what you think about this! Well good. I need another reason not to watch daytime TV.
I would love to see Rosie back on the tube. Watched her on her own show, and she took the view up about 3 notches. It need it badly! Love the Rosie! So their "The Donald", I think that thing on your head is molding!
Without going into all the reasons why, I will NOT be watching Rosie.
I would definitely watch she a national treasure.
Rosie is taking on some important, underexamined issues on her radio show, which is what she tried to do on The View. She will be watched. I love her for her honesty and her love of Broadway. No one but she has figured out that those of us outside of NYC LOVE to see professional theater people on our TVs. We want to know what is happening on Broadway, and see performances. She'll be a hit again!
The show could be named after herself......The Trash Show !!
If Rosie is as good as she was before--I would be watching her, and selecting her show over a few of the others.
No, I won't be watching Rosie. She and her negativity absolutely disgust me.
I've always enjoyed Rosie, controversy and all!I think her heart is always in the right place...she just has very strong views.
I honestly can't stand Rosie
I loved her show before, and I will check out the new one as well. I think after all is said and done, she did do alot of good stuff for the unfortunate people, charities, houses and such. I don't like her lifestyle, but she usually has a good, entertaining show.
She wasn't funny as a stand up comic, she wasn't funny on her talk show or the view. She just makes outrageous uninformed comments. I have a drunk next door neighbor who does the same thing.
It wont last..
She's very rude. She doesn't know how to talk to people. She's not funny to me at all.
yea can't wait
I don't care for rosie her big mouth and argumenitve nature isnot worthy of a talk show . I think ellen is doing a great job and I don't think Rosie will steal her thunder.. Most Oprah viewers will most likely switch to Ellen
I absolutely WILL be watching her!! My kids, my sister and many of our friends are thrilled to hear Rosie is coming back!! She had the best talk show of our generation with the "Rosie O'Donnell Show", probably because spent so much time watching and learning from the original hosts of early television. She understands what people enjoy and knows how to deliver it packaged in a great show!
Rosie is far from being another talk show "host". In response to Ann Trujillo who stated that Rosie took the View up 3 notches...what a laugh. She almost single handed ruined the show. As you can tell I cant stand that girl.
I will be so happy to see Rosie back on TV,she nor anyone else can fill OPRAH SHOES,with that said she will do a good job on tv.
People will remember Rosie has a BIG HEART and loves to GIVE big things to her audience members/fans.Rosie really is a GOOD PERSON and I'm happy for her!!! GO ROSIE GO!!!
Years ago she was interesting. Since then she doesn't need to
force her opinion on the world...I watched her believeing
everything she said. After, I felt duped. She needs therapy and
meds. I mean this in fair way.
Please not while I am eating. OOPS, too late made me throw up/
Usually the DCE's much more snarky than this. Hey, Comedy Examiner: are you feeling Okay??? I would expect a much harsher treatment of Ms. O'Donnell. She seems like just the sort of person you'd usually go after?
XOXO
I used to love Rosie, but I was disappointed in how beligerent
she became after leaving her show. It must have been embarrassing for Streisand and Tom C. to have her gushing over them and find out she was lesbian and you wonder what the gushing was about in reality. I have homosexual friends, but I really don't want to hear about this topic on a day to day basis. I don't think it is a natural way to be. I cringe when I hear a woman talking about her "wife". It sounds ridiculous.
I vote for Bonnie Hunt just keeping her show which I am upset that it is going off. Now she is the talk show host that doesn't seem to rankle others and her mom is a doll.
Someone, please put her out of my misery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I liked Rosie's old talk show hope the new one will be similar.
Yeah!!!!! Go Rosie. I'm good at taping my favorite shows.
Rosie should be able to pull it off again and again, sure hope so..i'll be watching..
I would never give up Ellen for Rosie. It's a no brainer!
Absolutely! I will watch her with gusto! It is so nice to have someone stand up for what they believe....albeit a little course....but so tired of "yes people" on every station. If she puts her foot in her mouth, so be it. At least it will be a fun ride!
No more Rosie. She needs to take all her negativity and turn it into something positive = and she needs Jesus.
She's very rude? She's very negative? Really? Do you listen to her radio show? She is the most compassionate, down to earth celebrity out there.
I love Rosie. She always makes me laugh - regardless of my mood. I love her radio show 2! Triple love her!!! :-)
I am so excited to see Rosie come back to Daytime. She was the best in the 90's and I know she will make this show even better then the last one.
