Fran Drescher appeared on ABC's "The View" on June 14, 2011, to talk about her new TV Land series "Happily Divorced," which premieres on June 15, 2011, following the hit series "Hot in Cleveland." Drescher's new series is based on her realy life experiences with her ex-husband, who revealed that he was gay after 16 years of marriage
According to Drescher, she divorced her husband,Peter Marc Jacobson, as her show "The Nanny" ended. Her ex-husband revealed that he was gay after the divorce. When Drescher was diagnosed with breast cancer, the two reunited as friends and continue to be best friends and confidants.
In the show based on her real live, the ex-spouses live together as roommates, because they cannot sell their house, due to the economy. The ex-husband tries to integrate into the gay community, as Drescher begins to date other men.
“Happily Divorced” follows Los Angeles florist Fran (Fran Drescher) whose 18-year marriage ends suddenly when her
husband (John Michael Higgins) announces he’s gay. The former couple lives under one roof, due the the bad ecomony and problems selling their house. The series also features Fran’s best friend Judi (Judy Arnold), her parents Dori and Glen (Rita Moreno and Robert Walden) and her flower delivery employee Cesar (Valerie Rodriguez).

Fran Drescher, twice nominated for both Golden Globe® and Emmy® Awards and also a New York Times best-selling author of "Enter Whining" & "Cancer Schmancer," writes the show alongside her real life ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson. Jacobson previously worked with Drescher as co-creator and writer on “The Nanny.” He also served as co-executive producer of the popular series “What I Like About You.”
