It was teased a while back from Castle creator and Executive Producer Andrew Marlowe that there were still plans in the works to shed some light on Rick Castle's father's identity in February. It looks like that might be going full-speed ahead in next week's episode!
As revealed from Adam on TV Guide in this week's Mega Buzz:
What can you tell me about the end of Castle's two-parter? — Ellen
ADAM: How about a cryptic hint from creator Andrew W. Marlowe? "Hang on to the end, because we have a couple of surprises in store," he says. "There's a revelation about Castle that should be interesting for fans." We hear it's connected to the mystery surrounding Castle's absent father — who may have had a behind-the-scenes role in his son's future successes.
Cryptic might be putting it rather lightly! This tidbit is sounding like quite the bombshell, and it leaves much to speculate on. What role can Castle's as-yet unknown father possibly play in "Linchpin"? And as far as "behind-the-scenes role in his son's future successes" is concerned, is this just with next week's episode, or could this mean something else entirety? There's been fan speculation about the mysterious man he's been speaking to in regards to Beckett's shooting and her mother's murder being his father, or someone else close to the case. Could that be it? Six days until "Linchpin" to find out!
