Bonnie Franklin, whose celebrated reached great heights beginning in 1975 on the TV sitcom One Day at a Time, has died due to complications from pancreatic cancer. She was 69.
The redheaded actress played Ann Romano, a divorced mother raising two girls on the long-running show, which also starred Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips. The sitcom, often a ratings winner, was one of the more original shows to come out of the era, often tackling subject matters few programs embraced: divorce, teenage runaways and pre-marital sex.
More recently, Franklin appeared on The Young and the Restless but she was reunited with Bertinelli in an appearance on the TV Land hit Hot in Cleveland, which reunited her with Bertinelli, one of that show's regulars.
Franklin's family announced she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 2012.
