On Thursday, it was reported by Chicago Business and other outlets that TV analysts Kendall Gill and Tim Doyle got into a fight in the newsroom after an altercation got downright ugly. In fact, the situation between Gill and Doyle escalated so much that Gill has been temporarily relieved of his duties.
Kendall Gill is a Comcast SportsNet Chicago Bulls analyst while Tim Doyle works as the Big Ten Network analyst in the CSN Newsroom. Earlier this week, Gill reportedly approached Doyle to address Doyle’s critical comments of Gill’s analysis following the conclusion of the Chicago Bulls versus Denver Nuggetts game.
That particular game ended in controversy, too, as what seemed to be a game winning basket was taken off the board and the victory in turn awarded to Denver.
According to author Dan Ecker, who says he witnessed the entire TV analyst fight, Gill was the one to initially approach Doyle in an effort to confront him about his personal comments. The conversation quickly turned into a shoving match, and soon enough, Gill allegedly hit Doyle, causing blood to be drawn.
The two men were eventually separated.
Now, though, CSN Chicago news is addressing the incident head on.
"We're looking further into the incident that took place in our newsroom earlier today," said CSN Chicago news director Kevin Cross in a statement late last night. "Until the investigation is complete, Kendall Gill will not be appearing on our air."
It’s not yet known how long Kendall Gill will be off the air.
