Tuttle offers School of Rock

In an effort to get kids into "real" music and away from Guitar Hero, Tuttle Rec Center will be offering Tuttle School of Rock this fall. The six week program is open to kids ages 7 and up and will meet on Fridays from 4:30 until 5:30 pm starting October 2nd. The program costs $30 per student and students are expected to provide their own acoustic guitar, although the center will try to find guitars for students who cannot obtain one.

Located just north of campus at 240 W. Oakland Ave., the Tuttle Rec Center is one of 11 centers closed by the Parks Dept last February. The center has now been taken over by CampFire, U.S.A.

In addition to the School of Rock, the center will also offer ceramics, seasonal crafts, inline skating, street hockey, and Camp Fire USA’s unique youth development programs for Preschool and Elementary aged children. Family Nature Club will be offered Saturdays from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Family Nights will be held the first Friday of each month, October 3, November 6, and December 4. Special events will include a Halloween Party on Friday, October 30, an “Empty Bowls” fundraiser for local food pantries on Saturday, November 14, and a Holiday party on Saturday, December 19.
