Chaz Bono competed on the show in 2011, and he's hoping to give his mom some expert tips to help her shed her fears.
"I am a little bit worried," confessed Cher about the show that has become famed as much for helping its participants lose weight as it has for the celebrity amateurs waltzing with pros.
But she's relieved that she has Chaz on her side.
"He's coming tonight to give me tips!" she explained. "He said, 'Mom, you don't understand how seriously people take this. I'm coming over tonight and ... I'm going to tutor you.'"
But what Chaz actually wishes: That he could perform again on the show now that he's lost 75 pounds.
"I'd love to do 'Dancing [with the Stars]' all over again," he said. "I'd do it so much better now than I did then!"
However, proud Mom Cher recognizes that Chaz succeeded in a difficult task regardless of his weight then.
"I was there when Chaz was doing it and saw how difficult it was," Cher told ABC News.
ABC News reports that Chaz decided to lose weight when he reached 250 pounds. He's pleased with his diet success.
"I really feel very satisfied and comfortable with the way I eat now, which is amazing, and for me, kind of a miracle," he said. "I never thought I'd be that kind of a person!"
Chaz recently appeared on "The Doctors," and co-host Dr. Andrew Ordon notes that Chaz "really did do it on his own, the good old-fashioned way: diet and exercise."

In addition, Dr. Ordon says that Chaz had to cope with "the extensive hormonal change and shift of adding male hormones and subtracting female hormones, so that all came into play."
And Chaz has noted the emotional benefits of his weight loss as well.
"I just have a lot more confidence and that feels really cool," he said. "I really like what I see in the mirror."
