There were four new movies set to come out this week and the winner is a surprise to everyone, including the production company of the movie.

The latest TV show to be rebooted, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles win at the box office as it brings in an estimated $65 million over the first weekend. What is really shocking is how well the movie did in the foreign box office, bringing in an estimated $28.7 million giving the movie an estimated $93 million opening weekend worldwide. Paramount was so pleased with the opening that it announced it will be doing a sequel set to come out in 2016.

Guardians of the Galaxy fall from the top spot, but have a solid weekend as it brings in an estimated $41.5 million. This moves the movie past it’s $170 million budget and is looking to cross over the $200 million mark in the next week. This movie has a real shot at becoming the highest grossing film this year as it’s only an estimated $80 million from the top spot.

The other three movies to come out this week did decently well as two of them were able to hit double digits. Into the Storm (which looks an awful lot like Twister) brings an estimated $18 million. The Hundred-foot Journey took an estimated $11.1 million it’s first weekend, while Step Up: All In brought in an estimated $6.5 million.

Lucy is able to grab the fifth spot at the box office as it brings in an estimated $9.3 million over the weekend.

There are a few good movies set to come out this week that will no doubt challenge the movies in the top five, but it’s probably that they won’t grab the top spot. Turtles have a shot at taking the top spot for the second straight week.
