Turtle Mountain coconut milk ice cream desserts

For those who are both dairy and soy free, the frozen desert options have been quite limited until Turtle Mountain released their coconut milk line of novelties.  They make ice cream pints and ice cream bars.  Three of their pint flavors and both of their bars contain soy oil and/or soy lechithin, however they are listed here for the benefit of those only avoiding soy protein.  Five of Turtle Mountains pint flavors are completely soy free and safe.

The pints are offered in eight flavors:

Vanilla Bean starts with a crisp, bright vanilla flavor on your tongue that morphs into and finishes with coconut.

Chocolate is velvety with a slight hint of coconut while on the tongue but finishes with a pleasant, rich chocolate flavor.

Passionate Mango Smooth and soft, this flavor has more of a passion fruit flavor than of mango. As I am not a fan of passion fruit, this flavor was my least favorite.

Coconut  With its creamy, rich base and tiny floating flecks of coconut, this flavor will tingle your taste buds.

Mocha Almond Fudge This is such an indulgent flavor.  Vibrant, creamy mocha-flavored ice cream surrounds little bits of toasted almonds and a plentiful, soft fudgy swirl. There is not even a whisper of coconut in this flavor.  This one is my personal favorite.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl This flavor is the above-mentioned chocolate ice cream with a swirl of hard chocolate and another swirl of peanut butter.  This is definitely has more of a chocolate flavor than peanut butter and would be even better if the peanut butter wasn't so hard, but overall, this flavor is rich and decadent. *contains soy oil and soy lecithin

Mint Chip has a strong, crisp mint flavored base with a chocolate ribbon swirled in the container.  *contains soy lecithin

Cookie Dough The exciting thing about this flavor is not only is this dairy and soy free, but it is also made with gluten-free cookie dough.  The ice cream itself is either cookie dough flavored or a mild vanilla (not like their sharp vanilla bean).  The cookie dough is in balls throughout the ice cream and is soft yet mildly crumbly and does not contain chocolate chips. The chocolate is in flakes scattered in the ice cream, separate from the dough. *contains soy oil and soy lecithin

Turtle Mountain’s newest release is the ice cream bars, known as Coconut Milk Minis which come in two types: mini sandwiches and mini bars, each offered in two flavors.  The mini sandwiches unfortunately soy flour and thus not discussed here.  The mini bars, however, are safe for those avoiding only soy protein.  They are offered in two flavors:

Vanilla Bar With the crisp outer chocolate shell and the smooth, vanilla center, this bar is just like the dairy-filled Klondike Bars. *contains soy lecithin

Coconut Almond Bar The almonds add a nice textural crunch on the outside of this bar with the coconut inside adds a tropical flair and creamy finish. *contains soy lecithin

I'm lactose and gluten intolerant and Purely Decadent coconut milk cookie dough is my favorite ice cream ever. Much tastier than anything else I've tried, and no weird aftertaste, either.
