On May 17, 2014, Franklin, the Fall River Library's 13 year old mascot, was stolen from his terranium out of the library's children's room, according to the Fall River Public Library Facebook page.

Franklin is a box turtle that has lived at the library his entire life. He is a popular face around the library and loved by the children who visit. Franklin was stolen by a man who hid in the library Saturday until it closed, according to WCVB. He was then seen on camera stealing the turtle.

Franklin likes to take walks around the library grounds with his guardian Dorothy Sorel, and he enjoys eating lettuce, celery, grapes and worms. The library staff miss him.

The Fall River police are asking for help identifying the man in the photo. Anyone with any information should call the Fall River Police Department at 508-676-8511 or the anonymous TIPS line at 508-672-8477.
