Hawksbill turtles are considered an endangered species as their numbers have dwindled so dramatically here in the Caribbean.

And it is always heartening when someone stands up and does something for wildlife.

This video tells the story of a turtle that was mauled by a pack of dogs in the Virgin Islands.  He was flown to Florida and nursed back to health.

He is now getting his second plane flight to bring him back.

Turtles always capture people's imaginations. I saw them in Trinidad.
