Turning the tables - white men speak about dating black women (Photos)

When it comes to interracial dating, white men with black women still remain in the minority. It would be interesting to find out exactly how white men felt about dating black women. The challenge came from finding men that would actually be comfortable discussing the subject. Their reluctance to share their views on this subject is understandable. White men are viewed as at the top of the social economic scale and black women are at the bottom. A poorly phrased comment can be viewed as racist or oppressive. In a country still struggling to deal with post slavery issues, white men will tread lightly on subjects dealing with race.
Still, what about white men and black women being involved romantically? It hasn’t evolved on a large scale as other interracial couples (not as common placed as black men and white women). White men and black women are becoming romantically involved and starting families. Two white men were willing to give their views on the situation.
Jeff, a 37 year old Lab technician from the Fort Worth area says that he is open to dating black women. He said that he doesn’t have any personal hang-ups with the idea. His only reservation honestly would be bringing her home to his mother. Jeff admits that growing up in the south he has seen little tolerance for dating blacks in general. He believes that his generation finds it more acceptable than the generations of his parents and grandparents. Jeff believes though that if you meet someone and fall in love that their race, ethnic background, or your family’s opinion should not matter. His wife and his children are his family and everyone else will just have to accept it.
Bryan, a 37 year old navy enlisted from Michigan, not only dates black women but was married to one. His attraction began in his mid 20s and Bryan does not have a specific reason why he dates black women but he does list of some of the things that he finds attractive about them. Bryan finds them to more easy going (This would be debatable if you asked some black men). He likes the way they smell and skin color is also part of the attraction.
Prejudices and lack of social acceptance still create some sizable obstacles in this union becoming more common placed. Needless to say, love is blind and true love is lead by the heart.
