Turn the White House red

According to the American Heart Association heart disease is the nation’s number one cause of death. They want to raise awareness to everyone about cardiovascular diseases and the risk factors involved.

Some risks to be aware of but are not limited to may be:

  • Blood pressure levels
  • Cholesterol levels
  • Stroke awareness
  • Congenital heart defects
  • Reactions to medications
  • Genetics
  • Infections

A petition is currently active to shine a red spotlight on the White House in honor of American Heart Month and National Wear Red Day during the month of February. The petition requires 25,000 signatures before that spotlight can shine delivering the message of awareness to each and every citizen in the nation.

Currently the petition has approximately 3,500 signatures in favor of bringing light to this disease that has taken so many lives. It is estimated that more than 420,000 deaths are caused each year by one form of heart disease or another.

To sign your name to the petition is easy. Just click on the link “Shine a Spotlight on Heart Disease” and add your name to the list. It only takes a moment and it can save the life of another as more and more people learn about the risks that may already be affecting them.

Last year the White House released a proclamation from President Obama regarding American Heart Month. Let’s join together and lower the number of deaths caused in this country by heart disease.

The petition needs to have all 25,000 signatures before January 4, 2012 in order for the request to shine a red light on the White House can be illuminated for all to see.

Make a difference and sign the petition!
