On days like today, especially when we have had so much rain already, I feel like singing that old rhyme, "Rain, rain,go away. Come again some other day." I have had about enough of the rain. I know the farmers appreciate the rain to help their crops grow. But for me, a non-farmer, having a lot of rain can be a little depressing.
Maybe you don't get down on rainy days but maybe there are more significant things in your life that cause you to be depressed, distressed, worn out, or maybe just somber.
When you're feeling this way, I want to encourage you to declare as the Psalmist does, "Why so downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." (Psalm 42:5)
There's something about praise that gets our spirits "right" again. Maybe it's the fact that in praise we are no longer looking at ourselves and our surroundings but to a Great God who is bigger than anything you or I may be facing right now. I challenge you right now to stop what you're doing and just start praising God. Sing a praise song or simply start telling God how great He is. See how your perspective on life changes. See how your outlook is at least somewhat brighter. Keep your eyes fixed on Him.
