This Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 8:30 p.m. local time, join hundreds of millions worldwide by taking part in Earth Hour 2010.

What is Earth Hour 2010? It's an event led by the World Wildlife Fund in which people around the world unite by turning out their lights for 1 hour to make a bold statement of concern about our planet and climate change.

According to www.myearthhour.org,
"Nearly one billion people from 4,100 cities in 87 countries on seven continents participated last year.

International landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge, Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower and Great Pyramids have gone dark alongside the city skylines of Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv and more.

To see it for yourself, check out this video: www.myearthhour.org/earth-hour-video."

For the second year in a row, the Capital District is supporting Earth Hour by turning off the exterior lights at the State Capitol building in Albany from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Parents- interested in getting your kids involved?  Visit www.EarthHourKids.org for a tutorial geared toward the young at heart.

Thanks for this very informative information. I did not know there was an Earth hour, Just the National and International Earth Days.
Maybe a good time to grab the family, go for a walk and star gaze.
    Sounds like a plan.
Thanks again Janice for a very informative article, once again.
