Even before the release of Forza Motorsport III, developer Turn 10 is already stroking their ego. At the Microsoft press conference at E3 2009, they went out of the way to say that their upcoming game will be “the definite racing game of this generation” over and over again.
Turn 10 is at it again with a little smack talking against Forza Motorsport III’s biggest rival, Gran Turismo 5 for the Playstation 3. Community Manager Che Chou was kind enough to post the following in his blog:
“Perhaps the most surprising to me was when a couple developers from Gran Turismo makers Polyphony Digital came by to personally get hands-on with Forza 3, all the while taking careful notes, examining our UI system, shooting photos, and directly asking us some pretty interesting questions. The reason I say I was personally surprised was because PD aren’t generally known as a studio to acknowledge that there are racing games that exist beyond their own. Which could explain why the GT franchise has been so stagnant in the racing genre since GT3. So it seems competition is good for the consumer after all. I know for a fact that Turn 10 will never stop pushing racing games to the next level.”
That is quite a bold statement from Turn 10, especially considering that the Gran Turismo franchise remains the most popular in the racing genre. Although they may be arrogant, there is no arguing that Forza Motorsport III looks very good. The racing game will be released in October.
