Turklish zills and drills for a cause

A very unique and special class for all levels of dancers is being offered by award-winning instructor, dancer and choreographer Mariah. Mariah brings her skills in the art of Turkish Rom-dance to benefit the belly dance project, Raqs for Joy. Raqs, a television series on “health, wealth and the art of belly dance” with an international twist, is seeking start-up funding. This is a wonderful way to aid a good cause while learning drills and zills (finger cymbals). Mariah is donating her time for this educational showcase.

The event will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Mariah’s lovely dance studio in downtown Canton, Ohio (306 Market Avenue N, #900). The first workshop is from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., covering Turkish rhythms and drills with zills. The second workshop, from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. covers zills and a short choreography. Cost is $35 per workshop or $52 for both.
