Turkish Airlines provides free airfare to return Sarai Sierra’s body home (Photos)

Earlier this week we reported that the family of 33-year-old Sarai Sierra, the NYC mother of two young children who was murdered while on a photography sojourn to Istanbul, was trying to figure out how to handle the expenses associated with getting Sarai’s remains back home to New York City.

Today we learned that Sarai’s body will be returning home today, thanks to a complimentary fare paid by Turkish Airlines. Also:

Additionally, Sarai Sierra's family has established a web site where patrons can purchase Sarai’s photography.

All proceeds from the sale of her photos are to go to the support of her two children, ages 9 and 11. You can check out her photos here (http://instacanv.as/memyself_sarai.)

According to the website:

Thank you for all the support in purchasing Sarai's pictures. Quick update, all expenses for Sarai's funeral have been paid for! From here on out any picture of hers that you purchase will NOT be going towards her funeral. All funds will be going to her children.

Sarai’s family last heard from her on Jan. 21, the day she was supposed to board a plane and return from Istanbul and back to New York. Sierra never made the plane ride home; and a frantic search for her ensued. Sierra's husband and brother flew to Istanbul in the hopes of finding her.

Sierra's husband Steven arrived back in N.Y. yesterday.

After being missing since Jan. 31, Sierra's body was discovered last Saturday near the remnants of the ancient walls in Istanbul. She had been stabbed several times; but an autopsy revealed her ultimate cause of death to be a fatal blow to the head.

Earlier this week, the Turkish police enlisted the aid of the FBI in the continuing investigation into Sarai's death.
