The Turkish Men's National Soccer Team will be facing Honduras on May 29th in Washington DC. This will be the first time the Turks step onto US soil since May of 2010 when they faced the Czech Republic, Northern Ireland and the United States.
Now, just like back then in 2010, they are playing this friendly knowing that they will not be in the World Cup. Therefore, this is just a friendly to get the players used to one another ahead of their first EURO 2016 fixture at Iceland in September. This will be the first and only match of September on the competitive level before October.
The players the Turks will be relying on are none other than Arda Turan, Burak Yilmaz, Caner Erkin and keeper Onur Kivrak who will all have to lead this team with their determination and success. If they have a good game, their teammates will pick up their game as well to bring much-needed victories.
Before all of that, Turkey have an important friendly match tomorrow night in Ankara against Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Sweden. In that match, two Turkish-blooded players, Erkan Zengin and Jimmy Durmaz, will be facing the country of their parents and of which they play in the league of. If they score against Turkey on Turkish soil, they will be making a huge statement.
Whether Ibrahimivoc plays or not is still debatable as he complained of stomach pains. Regardless, the Swedes are tremendously talented and will give Turkey everything they have.
