Select Wal-Mart stores and select Turkey Hill Minit Marts are pulling ice cream off their shelves. Yesterday (4 October) Turkey Hill Dairy, located in nearby Conestoga, issued a voluntary recall for specific ice cream and desserts due to possible metal shavings. As of Saturday afternoon, there is no recall mentioning Turkey Hill on the Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) recall site.
The three (3) specific items being recalled are:
1. Turkey Hill Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Premium Ice Cream
Size 1 Pint (473 ml)

2. Turkey Hill Fudge Ripple Premium Ice Cream
Size 1.5 quart (48 Ounce)

3. Turkey Hill Moose Tracks Stuff'd Frozen Dairy Dessert
Size: 1 Pint (473 ml)

The recalled items are limited to packages sold at selected Turkey Hill Minit Markets in Pennsylvania, selected Wal-Marts in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and other small grocers and convenience stores in Maryland and Pennsylvania. All affected stores are directly delivered to and serviced by Turkey Hill Dairy and have been instructed to remove the product from their shelves.
There are eight (8) Turkey Hill Minit Markets within Lancaster City:

While there is no Wal-Mart physically in Lancaster City, there are three (3) easily accessible by the Red Rose Transit Authority (RRTA). The Route 11/Ephrata bus stops at the Ephrata Wal-Mart. The Route 14/Rockvale Square bus stops at the Wal-Mart on Lincoln Highway near the PA State Police. The Route 19/Manheim bus services the Wal-Mart at the Hawthorne Plaza on Fruitville Pike.
The affected containers, according to a Turkey Hill press release, would have been purchased after 1 October 2013. Anyone who has purchased these affected packages can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or contact Turkey Hill Dairy at 1-800-MY-DAIRY (1-800-693-2479). Consumers may also use the Turkey Hill Contact Form on its website.
