Chamberlain Bridge, owned by Carl R. Moore Management LLC, has retired from racing. According to his trainer Bret Calhoun, the bold-sprinter was retired after his eighth-place finish in the September 2 Turf Monster Handicap at Philadelphia Park. The 9-year-old gelding was sent home to owner Carl Moore’s farm.
Calhoun emphasized that Chamberlain Bridge was “100 percent sound and healthy.” He continued,
He just didn’t fire in the Turf Monster. There are just no easy spots to run him, so we felt this was the right thing to do.
Chamberlain Bridge is by War Chant out of She’s Got Class by Trempolino. The turf-sprinter was a claimer that continued a career that took him all the way to the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.
He started 53 runs and retired with a record of 19 wins, 9 seconds, 11 thirds and a total of $1,953,016 in earnings.
Calhoun readily admits that Chamberlain Bridge is one of his all-time favorites.
We will miss him; he was a very special horse, for sure.
