A turducken of the sea was caught and it surprised researchers who were just trying to catch one shark that they had previously tagged for research. On Aug. 14, MSN News reported that a shark within a shark made news around the country after the University of Delaware's Ocean Exploration, Remote Sensing, Biogeography Lab discovered the strange but cool "double catch."
The photo of the shark inside another shark's mouth is pretty incredible and really unexpected. A 3-foot-long smooth dogfish shark was inside of a tiger shark which basically formed a "turducken" which is a chicken inside of a duck inside of a turkey (all de-boned).
While the turducken of the sea isn't something you would want to eat, the correlation between one animal inside another is reminiscent of the new-age Thanksgiving dish. "This unlucky smooth dogfish couldn't resist the menhaden used as bait and unfortunately fell victim to one of the top predators in the bay," said the researchers.
Check out the video of the double catch above. This probably happens more often than you think but to actually see it is really cool.
