TurboTax offers refund on Visa debit card for taxpayers without bank account

Direct deposit is the fastest way to get your tax refund and TurboTax is offering a free prepaid Visa card for taxpayers who do not have a bank account.

The IRS will begin accepting returns on Jan. 30, 2013, so that means if you e-file now you should get your refund in about three weeks.

Start your return as soon as possible to assure that your taxes are transmitted to the IRS on Jan. 30. You can use TurboTax free online now and file your state taxes at the same time.

For those who do not have a bank account, TurboTax is offering the option of getting your tax refund in the form of a NetSpend Premier Visa Prepaid Card.

The prepaid Visa debit card can be used online and at retailers that accept Visa. Get cash from any ATM machine that bears the Visa logo.

Not ready to e-file yet? You can get a free estimate of your refund on TurboTax.com without starting your tax return.

If you have never filed online, TurboTax offers live online help from tax experts and the process is quick and easy. Your refund amount will be displayed clearly and you can print your tax forms for your records.

Those who choose to get their refund by paper check will have to wait much longer, so direct deposit is the best choice if you need your refund quickly.

If you are filing a simple 1040EZ or have simple deductions, file on TurboTax now and your return will be accepted by the IRS on Jan. 30. Expect your refund about 21 days after the date your return is accepted by the IRS.

Please note that there are some taxpayers who will have to wait to file their taxes this year. If you are filing certain forms like the Mortgage Interest Credit Form Form 8396 or Energy Efficient Home Credit Form 8098, you will not be able to file until February or March.
