If you love live improvised comedy, the Link Centre in Tupelo, Mississippi is the place to be this Saturday, January 11, 2014. The comedy team of West of Shake Rag will have you rolling in the aisles with their improv. comedy.
The Link Centre is located at 1800 West Main St, Tupelo, Mississippi 38801, and is sandwiched between the area where Elvis was born, and Tupelo Hardware, where Gladys Presley bought her son his first guitar. Admission is a meager $5, and there will be free popcorn and drinks.
Also, if you wonder where the comedy team, West of Shake Rag got its name, it was named after an area of East Tupelo that was home to the local blues and jazz music in the first half of the 20th century. The churches in the area filled the Sunday morning and evening airwaves with the sounds of African Americans singing gospel songs. These influences fueled the career of a young man, who was born in Shake Rag. His name was Elvis Presley.
So, now you know why the comedy team chose this name. It is their way of paying tribute to that legendary part of Tupelo, Mississippi.
Please, support these talented entertainers, who are keeping the name "Shake Rag" alive. They would love for you to be in the audience Saturday, January 11, 2014.
