In the hip hop community and for fans around the world Tupac has been described as one of the most lyrical, poetic and rhythmic rappers of all time.
Tupac’s legacy is still very much in the forefront of today’s style of music, as it was when he was alive and rapping on the scene.
For many fans of Tupac his music will never go out of style. Over the years some of today’s hottest hip hop artist like Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre, have incorporated modern technology to bring Tupac into their music and stage performances with a hologram during the concert event held in Coachella, California back in 2012.
Today fans can rejoice in the news that Tupac’s legacy will be featured on Broadway. According to MTV News Kenny Leon theater Director who created his version of “A Raisin in the Sun” will be taking on the challenge of bringing Tupac the musical to Broadway.
The Broadway production will be a musical but it will not be biographical instead it will be an anti-violence, unconditional love story featuring Tupac Shakur’s music according to the director Kenny Leon.
24 Actors have been chosen for the musical and according to MTV News the actors had to sing, dance and rap as well as be able to perform in the traditional style of a Broadway musical. Leon has gotten permission from the late rapper's mother, Afeni Shakur, who is producing the musical with Eric Gold, to use the music. Earlier this year, she announced she would be releasing his full body of work saying, "My son left many incomplete pieces and even more unfinished ideas. Using the blueprints he gave us, I am committed to fulfilling this duty."
The Tupac musical is still looking for a theater to house it but it is aiming for the 2013-2014 season to open.
