Tupac Shakur’s Broadway show ‘Holler if Ya Hear Me’ opening date announced

Tupac Shakur fans will be happy to hear the musical Holler if Ya Hear Me will begin performances on Broadway at the Palace Theater on May 26. According to the New York Times on Wednesday the show is to include several of Shakur’s songs, including Me Against the World, California Love and Keep Ya Head Up, plus the title song.

The theater production is reportedly costing around $8 million dollars and will not be shown off Broadway before opening the doors to the public. Curbing what some might call a tradition, the musical will be first viewed at the Palace Theater and then might hit the road based on the response of the fans.

With the response fans gave over the Tupac Shakur hologram, the ticket sales for this performance might be off the hook. People don’t get tired of hearing Tupac’s music or message. Since his life was cut short in a drive by shooting, this is as close as fans can get to his message in the music.

The only weird thing about Tupac Shakur’s story and music debuting on Broadway is that the artist always had a love for the West Coast. Being that the theater is in New York City, some might call that decision irony. Or just plain interesting.

The Holler if Ya Hear Me opening night is scheduled for June 19.
