Tuna recall expanded: Over 3 million cans recalled, no sicknesses yet

A tuna recall expanded is making news headlines today, as USA Today reported this Friday, March 8, that a massive recall of Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea tuna was expanded to include well over 3 million 5-ounce cans. The companies have alleged this week that the tuna cans were not properly sealed at their California plant.

With the headline, “Tuna recall expanded to more than 3 million cans”, sources announce that although no sicknesses have been reported from the company’s manufacturing problem, the sealing issue has since been fixed. Any loose seals might allow the tuna fish to spoil and cause consumers to become very sick, added the official recall. All buyers and retailers have been asked to throw out the tuna.

The Bumble Bee recall comprises of nearly 2.4 million tuna cans, in addition to over half a million cans from Chicken of the Sea tuna as well so far.

"We're voluntarily recalling products to ensure the highest margin of safety and quality," said a spokesman for the tuna fish companies.
