Visiting the beach at Tulum is an amazing experience. Not only is the beach nestled below the impressive ruins of what was once an important Mayan city and trade center along the ocean, but the landscape, white sand beach, and sky-blue water are - simply said - gorgeous!
The ruins of the Mayan city of Tulum demonstrate the high aesthetic value of the Mayans, who built structures worthy of the beauty of the natural world that surrounded the settlement. The architecture seems to mimic the rocks of the cliffs beyond which the city was built. When visitors walk through the ruins, they are treated to an unbelievable view of the ocean and beach, as the ruins suddenly end at the cliffs' edge.
After an incredible history lesson that is visiting the ruins of Tulum, the beach is a wonderful treat. The waves are rather strong here, so the swimming is very fun and buoyant. The view of the ruins above the cliff, from the perspective of the ocean, is almost more breathtaking than from above, since one's body is immersed in the lovely blueness and invigorating coolness of the tropical waters!
Take a look at the slideshow! This beach, and Mayan ruin excursion, should go on everyone's travel wish list.
