Kelsee Grovey scored 16 points and Mariah Turner added 13 as Tulsa ended a six-game losing streak in a 63-43 win against North Texas Saturday at the Reynolds Center.

The game was close most of the time until Tulsa pulled away late.

The Golden Hurricane (11-13 overall, 5-8 in Conference USA) owned a 20-18 lead at halftime, but trailed by a point twice more early in the second half.

A 3-pointer by Grovey put TU up 26-24 with 16:23 left in the game and TU never trailed again.

"We needed new energy today and that was the purpose of having a new lineup. Look back at the dismal start we had in last week's (Louisiana Tech) game, when we put five new players in they played hard and caught us up," Tulsa coach Matilda Mossman. "It makes a difference when you play with energy. When your attitude is good and you bring energy every day, you're going to have a chance."

Alexis Hyder led North Texas with 12 points.

Tulsa shot 35 percent (20-of-57) from the floor, 43 percent (9-of-21) in 3-point field goals and 70 percent (14-of-20) from the free throw line. It outrebounded the Mean Green 46-38.

North Texas finished with 29 percent (15-of-51) shooting, 19 percent (3-of-16) and 50 percent (10-of-20) from the free throw line.

Tulsa will play on the road at Tulane at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
