Tulsa fell behind and could never catch up as it dropped a 76-65 loss to UAB Wednesday night at the Reynolds Center.
Ashley Clark led the Golden Hurricane (7-7 overall, 1-2 in Conference USA) with 20 points. Liesl Spoerl put up 11 points and Loren McDaniel and Kelsee Grovey each scored 10.
Karisma Chapman and Chelsee Black each scored 16 points in leading the Blazers (10-6, 2-1). Chapman also had 10 rebounds. Ashley Grimes scored 15 and Kayla Anderson got 11.
TU, which never led, was down 40-25 at halftime.
It drew to within 51-42 after a jumper from McDaniel with 11:56 left.
UAB would stretch it to a 21-point advantage at 76-55 with 1:35 to go before TU closed with the last 10 points.
TU shot 33 percent (24-of-73) and could only make two 3-pointers out of 15 attempts (13 percent), and connected on 54 percent (15-of-28) from the free throw line.
UAB finished with 45 percent (26-of-58) shooting, hit 35 percent (10-of-29) in 3s and 70 percent (14-of-20) in free throws.
Tulsa remains home Saturday to meet Florida International. That game starts at 2 p.m.
