Tulsa had no problem handling Rice at home last year -- both in the regular season and in the Conference USA Tournament. But this is another year and such was not the case when facing the Owls Wednesday night at the Reynolds Center.

Jessica Kuster got a double-double scoring 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, to lead the Owls in a 75-59 win against the Golden Hurricane. Cristal Porter also produced 16 points or Rice.

Ashley Clark led Tulsa with 16 points for TU, Kadan Brady put up 15 and Mariah Turner scored 10.

The loss marked four in a row for Tulsa (10-11 overall, 4-6 in Conference USA) and third straight at home.

Rice led from the start, shooting out to an 11-3 lead. It led 35-26 at halftime and would extend the advantage in the second half.

A 3-pointer from Brady before halftime brought Tulsa to within 48-33 with under 15 minutes left in the game. TU would draw to within 58-44 on a layup from Clark with 8:38 left.

Tulsa finished with 34 percent (23-of-67) from the floor, 36 percent (4-of-11) from 3-point range and 60 percent (9-of-15) from the free throw line. Rice converted 48 percent (30-of-62) from the field, made just one trey out of 10 attempts and 70 percent (14-of-20) from the foul stripe.

Rice had 44 rebounds compared to 38 for the Golden Hurricane.

Tulsa plays at Southern Miss on Saturday. Game starts at 4 p.m.
