Tulsa victorious over Charlotte

Tulsa wrapped its regular season with a 68-57 victory over Charlotte Wednesday night at the Reynolds Center.

Ashley Clark and Kelsee Grovey each scored 15 points to lead Tulsa (12-15 overall, 6-10 in Conference USA), who will a 10th seed in the Conference USA Tournament next week in El Paso, Texas.

Other two-figure scorers for the Golden Hurricane were Mariah Turner and Loren McDaniel, each who had 12, and Kadan Brady with 10.

Gabby Tyler led Charlotte (14-14, 8-7) with 14 points, Kira Gordan scored 12 and Lefty Webster put up 11.

TU trailed by six points early in the game, but came out ahead 24-23 on a 3-point dish from Brady with 4:43 remaining in the game. It was down once more before holding a 28-26 halftime advantage.

The game was tied 34-34 after Ayanna Holmes hit a jumper for the 49ers with 15:29 left.

Treys from Grovey and Brady brought the Hurricane to a 54-44 lead with 9:20 remaining

Tulsa finished with 45 percent (29-of-64) from the floor, 43 percent (6-of-14) in 3-point field goals and 57 percent (4-of-7) in free throws.

Charlotte shot 38 percent (22-of-58), 11 percent (1-of-9) in 3s and 80 percent (12-of-15) from the free throw line.

The Golden Hurricane were outrebounded 40-36. They will meet 15th-seeded UTSA in the first round in the C-USA Tournament at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday.
