Aimee Creger had another fine outing and Cierra Hughes accounted for two RBI as 15th-ranked Tulsa defeated Arkansas 4-1 Wednesday night at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Ark.
Creger (17-1) forced eight strikeouts while yielding one run, unearned, on five hits.
The Golden Hurricane (36-4) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Hughes tripled down right field on two outs to score the first two runs, driving in teammates Julie Kernon and Jodi Emiston. Hughes then added the third run on as Catherine Horner reached on an error.
"It was a good win. Cierra had good swings tonight and really got us going," Tulsa coach John Bargfeldt said. "She definitely put a good swing on that triple and got us two-out RBI. Julie Kernen also got a big RBI late in the game that I thought was instrumental in giving us a little breathing room in that last inning. As it turned out, that was something that we needed there."
The Razorbacks (24-18) scored their only run in the bottom of the third as Stephanie Canfield singled in Jennifer Rambo on one out.
TU posted its last run as Erica Sampson was plated by a one-out single from Kernon.
Hughes and Jill Roye each finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
Tulsa will host East Carolina for a three-game series this weekend.
