Sure, you go to ONEOK Field to watch the Tulsa Drillers and enjoy some great Double-A baseball, but it never hurts to have something special happening at the park while you’re there as well, right?
If you like your baseball game to be “value-added,” then you’ll want to take a look at the 2013 Drillers schedule and plan your time accordingly.
Fireworks
Do you like fireworks? Well, 17 of the 70 home dates will feature postgame fireworks displays. The list includes the return of the popular Friday Night Fireworks theme, with postgame shows following every Friday Drillers game.
The list of fireworks dates also includes three consecutive nights of large displays on July 3, 4, and 5 in celebration of Independence Day. Another show is also scheduled for May 26 (the Sunday of the Memorial Day Weekend).
Miscellaneous giveaways
Build-A-Bear, outfitted in a Drillers cap and jersey, will be given away on April 13, the first Saturday game of the year.
Mickey Mantle Day will return this season on Saturday, June 22. Figurines scaled to 1/12 size will feature Mickey in his classic swing pose.
R.A. Dickey Gnomes will be handed out on Saturday, May 25. The gnomes will feature the former Drillers pitcher preparing to throw one of his famous knuckleballs.
Jerseys
On Thursday, May 16, fans will receive Parker Frazier #11 light blue jerseys.
On Thursday, June 20, a replica of the Matt Holliday pinstriped models worn by past Drillers teams.
On Thursday, August 8, an Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez version will be given away that will feature the old style blue and red Drillers logo.
A camouflage Drillers jersey will be handed out on Saturday, July 6.
For the kids
All Sunday home games, excluding May 26, will be Souvenir Sundays with the first 500 kids, ages 12 and under, receiving a giveaway item and all kids, 12 and under, eating for free.
The Sunday afternoon games on April 14 and 28, May 12, and June 9 and 23 will also give kids the opportunity to participate in pregame Baseball Skills Clinics on the field with the Drillers players.
Food and drink
Returning this season are the popular Thirsty Thursdays and the $2 Tuesdays. Thirsty Thursdays feature $1 soft drinks and beer, while $2 Tuesdays feature $2 Lawn Tickets and $2 food and beverage specials such as $2 Driller Dogs, $2 Pizza Slices, $2 Soft Drinks, and $2 Jumbo Soft Pretzels.
Don’t forget the dogs!
Also returning this season are the popular "Bark in the Park" nights with fans able to bring their dogs to the park on most Wednesday night (7:05 p.m.) games.
