TUF China Finale results: Dong Hyun Kim notches ridiculous knockout victory

According to a March 1 report from MMA Junkie, Dong Hyun Kim (19-2-1 MMA, 10-2 UFC) finished John Hathaway (17-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) with a devastating elbow strike at the 1:02 mark of the third frame of their main event clash in the TUF China Finale event at The Venetian Macao’s CotaiArena.

“I can’t tell you how happy I am,” Kim said. “There’s no stopping. I’m going to continue to keep going forward, forward, forward. I don’t care who my next opponent is – I want to get a shot at the title.”

Kim's finish is expected to be in the running for "Knockout of the Year" for 2014, even though we're just two months into the year.

Hathaway was knocked out cold from the blow, as his three-fight win streak was ended.

As for Kim, he hinted that he thinks he's ready for a title shot in the UFC's stacked welterweight division.

When it comes to wrestling and grappling, I think I'm one of the best and I have no problems going against Johny Hendricks. When it comes to matching up in wrestling, I don't think anyone would be able to take me down and if it's striking, whoever gets knocked out will get knocked out, I will make sure that when I hit somebody, I'll knock somebody out.

In the TUF China Finale co-main, Zhang Lipeng defeated Wang Sai via split decision. Two judges saw it 29-28 in Lipeng's favor, while the third judge had it 27-30 in favor of Sai.

Also on the main card, Matt Mitrione finished Shawn Jordan with a first-round knockout. The finish came at the 4:59 mark of the opening frame.

“I didn’t want to force the knockout,” Mitrione said. “I didn’t listen to my corner as much as I should’ve.”
