Tuesday two-fer: Texas Hippie Coalition and Yonas stop in Des Moines

Tuesday night brings two top-notch musical acts to Des Moines: rock/metal band Texas Hippie Coalition and rapper Yonas. Here are the details on the two shows.

Denison, Texas natives Texas Hippie Coalition bring their "red dirt metal" to Wooly's in Des Moines on Tuesday night. The band's 2012 album Peacemaker hit #4 on the Billboard Heat chart and also charted on the Indie (#31) and Hard Rock (#20) charts. THC plans to release their fourth album, entitled Ride On, on June 24. You can check out the band's 2012 single "Turn It Up" in the nearby video. Opening for THC will be Oklahoma metal band Anti-Mortem, Des Moines rockers Handlebar, and Des Moines metalheads ghosthive. Doors for the all ages show will open at 6 p.m., and the music will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door.

New York hip hop artist Yonas will headline at Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines on Tuesday night. The rapper who says that he is "bringing content back to popular music" won a 2010 Billboard Songwriting Award for his song "Banga". Yonas released a new album (The Transition Deluxe), a new EP (The Black Canvas), and a new mixtape last year (The Transition 2: Bright Lights, Big City). The Spektators, Pell, and Woxell will open the show. The doors at Vaudeville Mews will open at 5 p.m., and the show will start at 5:45 p.m. There will be a $15 cover charge at the door for this all ages show.
