With the recent legislative attacks on access to abortion care, contraception, and women’s health care across the United States, the fight for reproductive justice for everyone is more important than ever.
On Tuesday, January 28 NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, Freedom of Choice Ohio, and the Columbus chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women are hosting a celebration of the 41st anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision at the Gateway Film Center, 1550 North High Street in Columbus.
After a reception with light refreshments and a cash bar at 6:00 p.m., keynote speaker Robin Marty will talk about the 2013 book she co-authored, Crow After Roe: How "Separate But Equal" Has Become the New Standard in Women’s Health and How We Can Change That.
Crow After Roe closely examines twelve states that have passed legislation challenging standards that were established by Roe v. Wade. These laws put women, especially those who are marginalized, in a position to lose their ability to make decisions about their own reproductive health.
The evening will be a look back at the battles already fought for reproductive rights and the that must be won to protect access to safe, legal, accessible abortion and reproductive health care in Ohio.
