The 2014 National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions held in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 12-17 at the Las Vegas Hotel, had amateur boxing action on Tuesday night with Team Colorado/New Mexico not as successful (winning 1 of 5 matches) as they’d like but their spirit remains intact.

Tuesday’s results:

114 lbs.- Eusbaldo Rameriz, Colorado/New Mexico lost (points) vs Antonio Vargas, Florida

132 lbs.- Jesus Vasquez, Colorado/New Mexico lost (points) vs Teofimo Lopez, Florida

152 lbs.- Reyes Marquez, Colorado/New Mexico won (points) vs Robert Terry, New Jersey

178 lbs.- Steven Nelson, Colorado/New Mexico lost (points) vs Edward Ortiz, Texas

201+ lbs.- Muhammed Bin Bila, Colorado/New Mexico lost (points) vs Terrance Walker lll, Upper Midwest.

Team Colorado/New Mexico results will appear HERE throughout the tournament.

This Saturday, May 17th at the Salvation Army/Red Shield gym, 2915 High St., Poor Boys Boxing in conjunction with Cox/Lyle Boxing presents 6 professional bouts where the doors open at 2 p.m. with opening bell action beginning at 3 p.m.

The main event pits Terry Buterbaugh (9-9-3, 4KO’s) against Carlos Sanchez (6-5, 2KO’s) in a junior welterweight bout scheduled for 6 rounds.

The co-main has Reyes Diaz (3-0, 3KO’s) taking on (making his pro debut) Michael Mathews in a cruiserweight bout, Alejandro Ayala (0-2) facing (making his pro debut) Juan Medina, Elan Simon (2-1-1, 2KO’s) taking on Martin Quezada (3-8, 3KO’s) and completing the card Cristian Bonilla (1-1, 1KO) vs Shane Moore (1-1, 1KO) in a match-up of light heavyweights.
