In a last-ditch effort to stop the Affordable Care Act before its most important benefits kick in, the Heritage Foundation has launched a tour of Defund Obamacare town halls in nine cities. The tour comes to Columbus on Tuesday, August 27.
Medicare and Social Security faced the same conservative opposition when they first became law. The Heritage Foundation is trying to pressure U.S. House members to cut off funding for implementation of the Affordable Care Act because they know that once Americans are able to get quality, affordable health insurance, they might recognize the Republican hype against Obamacare for what it is, and reassess their voting preferences.
To counter the ultraconservative group's message, Organizing for Action – Central Ohio is partnering with Protect Your Care, ProgressOhio, and other groups to hold a rally outside the town hall to support health care for all Americans.
The town hall will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel North, 6500 Doubletree Avenue, just off Interstate 71, north of Route 161, and east of Busch Blvd. The rally to support the Affordable Care Act will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot across the street. Click here to RSVP for the rally.
