“I am a rich man with little money. This is not the same as a poor man with abundant wealth.
I can share riches better than gold, more sparkling than silver, and beyond property. We know that hearts on fire create a ring of love that brightens the world like the sun above.”
The above quote was recently found in Jonathan Holden's day-planner and posted on the front page of the Rhythm and Roots website.
Jonathan Holden, at 60 years of age, died on January 17, 2012 in Tucson, Arizona. His untimely death shocked and saddened a wide network of family, friends and music lovers.
Holden's passion for music led him to start the Rhythm and Roots concert series in Tucson, which allowed local and national artists to share their creative talents with an enthusiastic audience. For almost two decades, Jonathan and Rhythm and Roots have brought music as diverse as flamenco, folk, blues, rockabilly and more to music fans wanting to hear something special.
The Rhythm and Roots concert series thrived in Tucson due to the dedicated volunteers, staff, performers and local patrons who made it all work. To learn more about Jonathan's life, see the Rhythm and Roots website.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Jonathan Holden Memorial Fund account at any Bank of America branch nationwide. A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date. Check the website for details.
The upcoming Rhythm and Roots shows will go on as planned. Holden's motto, "Music is Medicine," is true indeed. May his spirit live on in the heart of Tucson music lovers forever.
