On Tuesday, March 26 Moviepilot reported that a sequel has officially been announced for the horror comedy film "Tucker & Dale vs Evil," which followed a group of college kids who encounter two rednecks in the woods and believe they are being killed off one by one. The sequel was revealed by the two lead actors during the horror convention HorrorHound, and is expected to begin production in 2014.
The original film was released in 2010 and was directed by Eli Craig. Tucker (Alan Tudyk) and Dale (Tyler Labine) are two rednecks who have just purchased a secluded cabin in the woods, and they encounter a group of college kids who are going camping in West Virginia. The groups immediately judge each other, the college students thinking the pair are mean and want to hurt them, while Tucker and Dale are simply afraid of the kids.
The film puts a new spin on the idea of hillbilly wilderness men trying to kill kids who are just trying to have fun. The film is both horror and comedy and the sequel will be the same way. Tudyk and Labine are both going to reprise their roles and the script has been in development for several months.
The producers brought the idea to the actors and the project is moving ahead without delay. Both actors revealed during HorrorHound that they would not make a bad sequel film, which is a common occurrence among horror sequels, but the next film will have the same level of quality as the original film.
