One week after Conference USA decides the opponents for each school for the 2013 football season, the University of Tulsa gets its schedule etched in stone.
It had already been announced last week who TU would play and when in the non-conference slate. The Golden Hurricane, who won the Conference USA Championship and the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in 2012, open up on the road against Bowling Green on Aug. 31. They will follow up with their home opener on Sept. 7 against Colorado State, a road trip to in-state foe Oklahoma on Sept. 14, before returning home for a rematch with Iowa State, whom it beat in the Liberty Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
However, on Wednesday, the university announced in a press release the conference portion of the schedule. A bye week takes place after non-conference play before TU opens up conference action at home against Rice on Oct. 5, followed by a road battle with UTEP the next week (Oct. 12) , another bye week and continuing on the road against Tulane (Oct. 26) to conclude for the month of October.
November begins with newcomer UTSA coming to Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium on Nov. 2.
The Hurricane will then meet East Carolina on the road the next week (Nov. 9). It will be Tulsa’s first encounter with the Pirates since Labor Day weekend in 2010.
Marshall comes to town on Nov. 16, then comes the last game away from home against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 23 and the regular season finale at home against North Texas. TU last met the Mean Green in 2011, before North Texas became part of Conference USA.
