‘Tsunami’ disaster film ‘The Impossible’ to screen for SAG-AFTRA union members

‘Summit Entertainment’ has invited union members of the ‘Screen Actors Guild’ (SAG) & the ‘American Federation of Television and Radio Artists’ (AFTRA) to a movie screening of “The Impossible.” That includes Native American members. A question & answer session will follow with actress Naomi Watts who portrays Maria in the film. The screening is Tuesday Jan. 22, 2013 at 7 p.m. - in Los Angeles at the ‘Arclight Hollywood’ cinemas. All members are encouraged to ‘RSVP’ by Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. - Here is the email: TheImpossibleRSVPLA@gmail.com. Please include / full name affiliation / guest name / in subject line or in the body of the email. RSVP does not guarantee seating. SAG/AFTRA members have to show I.D. card at the door. Arrive at least 30 minutes early as screenings are overbooked because of no shows.

The Impossible” is a film drama directed by Juan Antonio Bayona. It stars Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor & Tom Holland. Sergio G. Sánchez wrote the screenplay for this film. The story is based a Spanish family's experience of the 2004 ‘Indian Ocean’ tsunami. According to the official website of ‘Box Office Mojo’ which tracks movie grosses. “The Impossible” has already opened in the foreign market grossing $95,516,542 in theaters. The movie opened in limited release in the U.S on Dec. 21, 2012 & went into wide release Jan. 11, 2013 earning $10,247,000.

The Impossible” has been praised by the movie critics. The performance by Naomi Watts has been recognized worldwide. She was recently nominated as ‘Best Actress’ from the ‘Academy Awards’ (Oscar) - Nominated as ‘Best Actress’ from the ‘Golden Globe Awards.’ (Hollywood Foreign Press Association) - Nominated as ‘Outstanding Actress’ in a lead female role from the ‘Screen Actors Guild Awards.’
