TSA officer arrested at Orlando International Airport in possession of gun

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that 25-year-old Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer Rynel B. Delacruz was arrested Monday night for trying to bring a gun through a security checkpoint at Orlando International Airport. He was released on Tuesday after posting just $250 bail.

The gun in question was a loaded Ruger handgun. Mr. Delacruz claims to have forgotten that there was a loaded gun in his luggage. Delacruz has already been terminated by the TSA because of his arrest, although WFTV says he "resigned." Yeah, sure.

Here is a report on the incident by WESH that includes some video, but there is an error in the story: It claims he was arrested Wednesday night and released on Tuesday. Go figure.

Here's another report on the arrest, with the added detail that there was "a bullet in the chamber." Nice.

The official TSA blog is here. There is no mention of this arrest at the present time. Should they decide to blog about this incident, you are encouraged to read their post and comment on it, if you'd like.
