Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.
2013 Fall season- Week 6- October 7th- October 13th
Trysten Pelkey- Mattanawcook- football- Rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two touchdowns in 54-18 victory over Stearns.
Pelkey and the Lynx have a 6-0 record with two regular season games remaining.
This is the second athlete of the week honor for Pelkey. He captured the honor during week six of the 2013 spring season.
This is the second straight week a student/athlete from Mattanawcook Academy has captured AOW. Courtney McIntyre earned the female athlete of the week last Sunday.
Chase Vicaire joins Pelkey and McIntyre as Mattanawcook Academy students that have captured athlete of the week. Vicaire earned the honor on 1/1/12.
Cam Mowrer- Orono- football- Rushed for 170 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries in 30-8 victory over Dexter.
Christian Mowrer- Orono- football- Rushed for 137 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries in 30-8 victory over Dexter.
Jose Palma- PCHS- soccer- Scored two goals in 3-0 victory over Dexter. Scored one goal in 9-2 loss to Foxcroft.
Trevor Lyford- Penquis- soccer- Scored two goals and closed out the game playing goalie in 3-2 victory over PCHS.
Dan Howe- Houlton - soccer- Scored two goals in 3-0 victory over Schenck.
Jeff Hoak- PCHS- soccer- He is always making sure the game runs smoothy by always hustling and doing a great job as a sideline ball boy.
