The first race in Oahu's women run series is this Sunday and there is still time to sign up! Try Fitness hosts a women's 5k (3.2 miles) this Sunday, February 4th at 7am. You can also register at packet pick-up this Saturday, February 4 at the Running Room from 10am-2:00pm.
This will be the first annual 5k for women and the first event in the group's new Women’s Run Series. The course is a safe, contained and beautiful route around Kakaako Waterfront Park. Enjoy the views as you and your friends run around this little gem in Honolulu. This is a course that is great for a beginner and will challenge the fastest of women.
Are You Ready for a Challenge?
New this year, Try Fitness has created a challenge for Hawaii's women. Join in all three of Hawaii's all women's running events and win! You get a commemorative cool max Women's Run Series Race shirt and a chance to win prizes. Simply mark the box on the Women's 5k application and you are in!
March 4th will debut the second race; a 10k (6.2 miles) distance and the last of the three races will be the Diva Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on April 1 and that's no April Fools!
Why Run?
Because gaining weight is easy. We live in a food carnival; all food is at our finger tips. Food advertisers know that marketing "works"- and kids who watch TV are a prime target seeing an average of 13 food ads a day; most of which are food ads that promote high sugar, salt and saturated fat.
People make an average of 200 food choices daily and with so many decisions to make, sometimes our brain drain reduces our ability to self regulate our choices. Running is one of the best ways to burn calories and when coupled with other like-minded individuals, running might just become that much easier. Sign up today. Online registraton closes tonight at midnight (Hawaii time).
