On July 6, 2012, master trumpeter, and world’s largest selling jazz instrumentalist, Chris Botti will take the stage inside Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
Botti’s 2001 album Night Sessions, his fourth studio album and first with Columbia records, was the album that established him as a versatile jazz and pop musician with the record peaking at number 4 on the Top Jazz Charts. The album was produced by Bobby Colomby, a founding member of Blood, Sweat & Tears, who was responsible for introducing Botti to the Columbia label.
Botti began playing the trumpet at the age of 9, and committed to it when he was 12 after hearing ‘My Funny Valentine’ played by Miles Davis.
In 2005, Botti released To Love Again: The Duets, consisting of covers of pop and jazz standards and featured guest vocalists and musicians, including: Michael Bublé, Gladys Knight, Steven Tyler and Sting. The Duets reached 18 on the Billboard 200 charts and No. 1 on the Top Jazz Albums.
