Trump threatens to sue Maher after a "joke" is taken too seriously. On Feb. 4, Bayou Buzz reported that Donald Trump made the threat against Bill Maher while on Fox & Friends. The "Celebrity Apprentice" host and real estate mogul is demanding that Maher pay up a promised $5 million.
As previously reported, Maher told Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" that he would pay The Donald $5 million (to charity) if he could prove that he was not the "spawn of his mother having sex with an orangutan." Trump didn't waste any time sending his birth certificate over to Maher... but Maher never paid him. Because it was a joke.
Now, Trump threatens to sue Maher, clearly taking the "joke" to another level. Most people realize that Bill Maher was mocking Donald Trump. Last year, Trump offered $5M to Barack Obama if he provided his college applications and some other documentation. The President did not comply.
Trump is now making a big deal out of Maher's "promise" and many believe it could just be for publicity. "Celebrity Apprentice All-Stars" premieres in March after all. "He promised me $5 million for charity if I provided certain information. Well, I provided the information," said Trump.
